About the Artist Linda Bein Linda was born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. She relocated to Southlake, Texas with her husband and family in the early 90’s when she began her career in art. As a primarily self-taught artist, Linda has attended numerous classes and workshops from local and nationally known artists including Art Locke, Bennie Johnson Wood, Judi Betts, Judi Coffee, Carolyn Riegeleman, and Doug Walton. She is a member of The Trinity Arts Guild and the Society of Watercolor Artists. Her works have been exhibited in shows in the Trinity Arts Guild Gallery and the member show of the Society of Watercolor artists. Linda also participates in the Guild’s traveling art show at local businesses and libraries in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. She is currently showing her work in Angelica, New York and in the Bein Gallery in Roanoke, Texas. Her paintings are in private collections in New York, Georgia, Illinois, and Texas. Although she likes to experiment with various media and techniques, transparent water color is Linda’s primary media. Her love of Mother Nature is reflected in her work, even abstracts turn into trees and countryside. Although Linda is predominately a landscape artist, she enjoys painting different subject matter using a wide variety of materials. Recently she has been experimenting with equine subjects. Linda’s belief that we as people are forever changing and growing is carried through her art with different media and subjects. To stay the same would be… to be left behind. Linda reserves a portion of her day to share her love of art with children and adults at The Bein Gallery and Art School and in her Southlake studio. Students experiment with pencil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, paper mache, clay, carving, and just about any form of art we can touch, feel and work with. I prefer working in transparent watercolor, but I enjoy the experience of other media and new techniques. Experimenting with art is exciting, whether creating an under painting, spray-texing, spattering or pouring, I enjoy the process as well as the product of creativity. Art is alive, exciting, stimulating, relaxing and frustrating simultaneously. Creating is also a need, regardless of medium or method. It is a way to communicate one’s interpretations of life, a wonderful way to express one’s inner self, and always takes one on a different journey. Whether creating or teaching, it is forever a new experience to be shared and treasured. I feel that to grow as an artist, it’s important to experiment with new styles, techniques, and mediums. |
