Youth Classes

About the Bein Gallery Art School

Weekly classes are available to students of all ages during the school year via sixteen week fall and spring sessions. Students may start classes at any point during the session with tuition prorated. Classes are currently offered in the Southlake studio. Scroll down for complete listing or click the session on the left.

Classes introduce students of all ages to different art media and techniques. Students are placed in classes based on age and ability. All students refine their visual perception, confidence, listening skills, problem solving abilities, and increase their self esteem at the Bein Gallery Art School. Students are encouraged to participate in the art shows scheduled at the end of the fall and spring sessions.

Young students develop fine motor skills and explore their creativity through age appropriate drawing, painting, clay, construction, paper mache, play dough and a wide variety of fun activities. Famous artists, art history, and color theory are introduced at various levels.

Older students learn the fundamentals of design and composition. They study line, value, color, shape, size, and direction. The principles used are unity, conflict, dominance, repetition, alternation, balance, harmony, and gradation. We encourage exploration of charcoal, pastels (chalk, oil, and water soluble oil) watercolor, acrylics, watercolor pencils, sculpture, and more.

Summer classes and camps are offered via three day camps, two or four hours per day based on student age. Camps are offered eight weeks during the summer. All camps include a variety of activities. Weekly classes are also available on Mondays and Fridays.   Older students, 7th grade thru adult, are offered 2 hour classes weekly during the summer vacation.
